VCGI Office Flooded; Data and Services Back Up and Running!

September 7, 2011

Leslie Pelch, VCGI

As most of you probably already know, VCGI’s offices on South Main St. in Waterbury were flooded with about 8 inches of silty water on the Sunday/Monday of tropical storm Irene. We salvaged what we could (not much, other than servers and a few computers/laptops/chairs…) and put it in storage, then we got out of the way as clean up crews tore out carpeting and threw away a whole lot of stuff.

VCGI’s project managers got to work right away temporarily setting up our data and web servers at the VT Dept. of Innovation and Information in Montpelier. The web site was back up and functional by Thursday, Sept. 1. Our business manager and executive director have made sure that we got paid (amazing) and that all key business information is still safe and managed.

We probably won’t get back into the office until at least October, and in the meantime we are mostly working out of our homes. Please have patience if you need to contact us with questions. Email is the best way to get in touch and our response time may be a little slower than usual since we are dealing with lots of new and different issues at the same time! Here is the web page with our contact info:

Thanks for your support and we look forward to getting back to normal as soon as possible!
